New Story Community Books

New Story Community Books is Calhoun County’s Independent Bookstore. We are a women owned, family run, local, social enterprise. We define Social Enterprise as prioritizing social goals alongside financial returns. For us this means we reinvest the majority of the money we make ack into our community. Which means we seek to actively address literacy concerns in our community as part of our bottom line.

Our vision is of a community where every person is introduced to the particularly fun magic books can breathe into one’s life and a community where every child grows up in a home rich with books.

We are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to connect people with books and help them discover new stories. So, we have chosen to launch our Battle Creek Space at BC Cargo because of the unique nature of the open-air style market and our ability to change the shop to new and fun themes to keep it fresh and interesting. We hope this leads to fantastic new spaces for people in out community to encounter new stories.
