Bread & Basket is a boutique-style public market. They specialize in the incubation of women of color-owned businesses and products.
Since 2021, their physical location is in downtown Battle Creek, Michigan at 38 East Michigan Ave.
They showcase the unique character of women of color-owned businesses locally, while advocating for WOC-owned businesses from around the U.S. B&B intentionally sources from WOC first, minority-owned second, and then everyone else.
Basically, we act as the intermediary to the market for women of color (a.k.a the “hype man”). B&B currently support 6 local women of color-owned businesses from Battle Creek & Kalamazoo through their incubator program. They invest in more than 25 women of color-owned brands and 20+ Black-owned brands with our purchasing power; sourced from across the U.S.
In addition to shelf space, we offer our entrepreneur partners training and shared resources; advocating for capital investment throughout critical city-wide and regional momentum.
